Lidders

RL Series rotary lidder

Take manual lid placing out of a high-speed production line.

Placing lids by hand is repetitive, and at higher line speeds it becomes difficult to maintain consistent placement without adding operators.

The RL Series automates the complete press-fit lidding process: incoming trays or tubs are controlled on the machine’s integral conveyor, lids are separated from the magazine and accurately placed, and an adjustable compression belt presses each lid securely home.

See it run.

Up to 80 products per minute.

The RL Series operates at up to approximately 80 products per minute, depending on the container, lid and application.

Because the transport conveyor and product policing are part of the machine, with photocell detection of incoming product, we control presentation through the complete lidding process rather than depending on the upstream conveyor to deliver perfectly spaced containers.

Real application

One existing RL installation automatically places card lids onto card tubs at 60 per minute, then changes over to handle plastic tubs and lids on the same machine. That application replaced two manual operators while increasing line output.

RL Series four station rotary pick head placing lids onto pots on the transport conveyor

The four station rotary pick head lifts each lid from the magazine and places it onto the pot on the integral transport conveyor.

Designed around the food zone.

The RL uses a cantilevered layout that keeps the main mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components behind the machine frame, leaving the product path accessible at the front, with debris directed towards the accessible side for easy removal. Hygiene is therefore designed into the machine layout, with the product zone kept accessible for cleaning.

Compact enough to become part of the line.

The RL is an inline system rather than a separate handling cell. Its compact footprint allows denesting, placing and lid compression to be incorporated directly into the production flow.

Quick answers

What types of lids can the RL Series apply?

Stackable press-fit lids onto a range of trays, pots and tubs, in plastic and card.

How fast can the RL Series run?

Up to approximately 80 products per minute, depending on the container, lid and application.

Can one machine handle both card and plastic packs?

Yes. One existing installation lids card tubs with card lids, then changes over in minutes to run plastic tubs and lids on the same machine.

Still placing press-fit lids by hand?

Send us the tub and lid and let us test the application.
