Tray denesters

When the product is shallow, speed does not have to be the limitation.

The R Series high-speed rotary denester.

Shallow trays, boards, flat cards, sachets and similar products can be separated and placed considerably faster with continuous rotary motion than with an intermittent machine. The R Series was developed for exactly those applications.

Its servo-driven rotary pick-and-place system continuously removes products from the magazine and places them accurately into the production line, making it particularly suitable for high-speed flowwrapper, cartoner and conveyor applications.

See it run.

Up to 400 products per minute.

Depending on the product and configuration, the R Series operates at up to 400 products per minute on suitable small formats, with larger products typically running slower.

Speed is only useful when the product arrives where it is supposed to. The four rotary pick heads provide controlled handling and accurate placement directly into downstream equipment: flat or lugged conveyors, chain and peg systems, flowwrapper infeeds and cartoners.

R Series feeding system with magazines and multi-lane outfeed conveyor in the PiP factory

Supplied as a complete system: R Series with magazines and outfeed conveyor, built and tested in our factory.

More than a tray denester.

The R Series is most effective with shallow products, typically up to around 25 mm deep, but its use extends well beyond trays: boards, flat cards, sachets, paper plates, coupons, flat cartons and other stackable products that need separating and presenting individually at speed.

Unlike a friction feeder such as our F Series, the R Series uses positive rotary pick-and-place handling, which suits high-speed applications where each product must be positively picked and accurately placed into a defined position or pitch. Format changes use the same factory-set masks as the rest of our range, with product recipes recalled through the HMI.

Quick answers

What products can the R Series feed?

Shallow trays up to around 25 mm deep, plus boards, flat cards, sachets, paper plates, coupons, flat cartons and other stackable flat products, fed and collated at speed.

How fast can the R Series run?

Up to 400 products per minute on suitable small formats, with larger products typically running slower. All figures are product and application dependent.

When would I choose an R Series rather than an F Series?

The F Series is a friction feeder for cards. The R Series positively picks each product and places it into a defined position or pitch, which suits high-speed applications where placement accuracy matters as much as speed.

Will your tray denest reliably?

Packaging dimensions alone do not tell us how well a tray will separate. Wall angle, flange design, material, surface finish, denesting features and manufacturing consistency can all affect performance. That is why PiP tests the actual production packaging wherever possible before finalising the machine solution.

Send us your trays. We will test them on our rig and show you how they behave.
